The season for Nambour Cricket players is over for another year with no senior teams making the finals and only one juniors in the finals. Unfortunately this is one of the rare years Nambour Cricket will not have our name on any of the premiership trophies. We did however win for the second year in a row the Johnston Brothers T20 competition.
Our 1st and 2nd division teams did not perform as well as expected but at times during the season showed the potential we have in the club. Our young teams only need to work harder and keep improving for premierships to come along again. Both our 4th and 5th division teams were only one win out from being in the finals. In the end lack of runs let both teams down.
Our most successful team was our under 13 Gold making it to the final but being beaten in a close game.
Our under 14 team also had success in making the semi's but was beaten in a close game in the semi final. The pleasing aspect with our juniors is that in a time when junior number are decreasing we were able to field two extra teams. The reason our numbers are so good is the work being done by junior coordinator Gary Caswell and the high standard of our coaches and managers.
Nambour Cricket provides a standard of coaching second to none. In addition to our regular coaches what other club can boast having the services of two former test cricketers in Danny Morrison and Trevor Hohns. This is on top of having the services of a coach of the experience of Brad Murphy.
We are now in recess until our AGM on Monday June the 4th. The season will commence on the first Saturday in October with sign on commencing in August.

Nambour wins Johnston BrothersT20 competition for the second year.
Nambour defeated Caboolture on run rate when rain allowed only eight over’s of Caboolture inning. Nambour were well in control of the game when the game was called off having Caboolture 4 for 50 in the 10th over after smashing 156 in our 20 over’s.
Our openers (Steve Ledger 30 Bret Milini 80) set the game up with an opening partnership of 46 off only 23 balls. Kobe Griggs was looking good when a bad call resulted in Kobe being run out for 24. After 10 over’s we had the game set up at 3 for 98 but the run onslaught was slowed by ex Qld spin bowler Mat Anderson who had the figures of 0 for 13 off his 4 over’s. Even with a pulled hamstring Bret batted through the inning to be 80 not out.
Caboolture started as expected with 12 runs off the first 3 balls but Henry Thompson got his revenge with a wicket with the 4th ball. Jamie Malcolm two wickets and Stuart Barlow one wicket soon had Caboolture in trouble at 4 for 30. Even with one way wood over of 14 from xxxxxxx Caboolture were never going to chase down our total.
Again Nambour Cricket proved how strong we are when we are at full strength. We now need to take the momentum form our win into Saturday fixtures.
